Q1> What is GPRS/ Edge what can I do with it ?
Ans. GPRS is general packet radio services with which you can browse Internet at a affordable cost. You can send/ receive mms and also download host of exciting stuff like polyphonic ringtones, Wall papers, Java Games, Animated images, Themes and Videos.
Q2> Where all can I access the Internet ?
Ans.You can access Internet on phone as well as on your Laptop / PC. You will be able to surf WAP sites from you phone and Website from your Laptop / PC. If your phone has HTML browser you will be able to browse both WAP and Web sites from your phone.
Q3> How can I Browse Internet on the phone ?
Ans. To access wap sites, just enter the URL of the wap site in the 'Services' or 'Web' menu of your phone. To visit Ideafresh wap site go to wap.ideafresh.com.
Q4> Do all handsets support GPRS? Would I need any setting on the handset for accessing GPRS ?
Ans. No. You need to have a GPRS enabled handset. Yes you would require settings on the handsets. Just call up customer care and request for a setting. You can also request for settings by sending an SMS.

Q5> What is MMS ?
Ans. Tired of sending plain text messages ? Idea presents the next generation of mobile messaging. With Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), now add color photographs and song clips to traditional text messages, transforming them into true reflections of emotions. As a result, your messages become more expressive and versatile.
All you have to do is click a photograph on your handset, attach a sound clip and send it to whoever you want. Even if the receiver does not have multimedia capability on his or her handset, they get an indication on their handset and can access your message on a web page for MMS retrieval.
You can also send across exciting new ready greetings or create your own greetings.
You can send a MMS to anyone:
- someone with an MMS phone
- someone with an email account
- even to some one with a non-MMS phone.
Q6> How can I Access MMS ?
Ans.
To access MMS you require:
1. An MMS /GPRS handset
2. Ones available in the market today are:

- Motorola T720i, E365, i830, E680, A1000, V80, V600, V300, V810, E310

3. Subscription to any of the GPRS plans. Click here to view the plans.
To Activate MMS:
- Just contact our customer care and ask them to provision you for wireless Internet.
- As soon as you apply for the Idea Wireless Internet service, you will receive a message saying "Service Settings Received".
- Click on the options and save the settings. Do not save the setting as default setting.
- Go to message settings, set the access point for Multimedia Services as IDEA MMS
- Your Handset is now ready to send/receive exciting multimedia messages which includes, text images and audio clips.

Q7> How do I access Internet on my Laptop / PC or my phone which has a HTML browser ?
Ans.
To access Internet you require:
1. A GPRS handset - There are many GPRS handsets available in the market today.
Following is the list of GPRS handsets you can buy in the market today.

- Siemens S45, ME45, M150, A-65, S-65, CX65, ST60, A60, SX1, SX56

3. Laptop or PDA or any other device you want wireless connectivity to.
4. Bluetooth connection, Infrared port or any other port through which you can achieve connectivity between your handset and the other device.
To access Internet by using your GPRS handset as a Modem:
1. Just contact our customer care and subscribe to any of the GPRS plans or SMS FRESH to 4666.
2. Configuring Internet access on your Laptop/ PDA/ PC
Adding a Modem -
To install a Modem driver, you must first install the Modem Setup Program on your Laptop/ PC from the CD provided with your mobile. During installation, keep your handset connected with the IR / Bluetooth Port of the device. After installation, restart your Laptop/ PC.
Creating a New Dial-up Networking Connection on LAPTOP
- First, double click on the Dial-up Networking icon.
- Then double click on " Make New Connections".
- Type a name for your connection, e.g. Idea GPRS.
- In the Select a Device field, please ensure that the required modem is selected.
- Click once on Next.
- In the Telephone Number field - Enter *99#
- Click once on Next to continue.
- Click once on Finish.
- Right click on your newly created connection icon and click on Properties.
- Untick Use area code and Dialling Properties.
- Go to Configure.
- Click on the Connection Tab.
- Click on the Advanced button.
- Under Extra Settings enter - AT+CGDCONT=1, "IP", "INTERNET"
- Click on the OK button.
Now the installation is complete !
If using Infrared, make sure both the ports on laptop and handset are in line of sight of each other. Infrared is selected in both.
If using Bluetooth, make sure Bluetooth is switched on in both devices.
Double click on your newly created connection icon.
Click once on Connect.
On Handset / PDA
Create a new connection with APN as INTERNET.
When you open the browser make sure you have chosen INTERNET as you connection

Q11> Will it work in Roaming ?
Ans. GPRS will work on roaming in all IDEA circles, Bombay (Orange and BPL), Karnataka (Hutch), Chennai (Hutch), Singapore (Starhub), HongKong (Sunday, CSL, Hutchison).
Q12> Will I be able to send MMS to other operators ?
Ans. Apart from Idea, You will be able to send and receive MMS messages to Airtel, Hutch and BPL Mobile (Bombay only) subscribers.
